  Columbia River Gorge

Mark O. Hatfield Trailhead

When construction began in the 1950s on what would become Interstate 84, many portions of the Historic Columbia River Highway were demolished, abandoned, or bypassed. Today, ODOT is working to restore many of the bypassed segments for use as bike paths and pedestrian hiking trails and at the Mark O. Hatfield Trailhead one can enjoy the restoration and beauty of the old highway.
