Eagle Creek Overlook

Build in 1915, Eagle Creek Campground is considered the "first" Forest Service campground constructed in the United States.  It also features the first restroom with flush toilets constructed in a Forest Service campground, which is still in use.  Eagle Creek offers a variety of activities, enjoy a spectacular view of the Columbia Gorge from Wauna Point, hike on the Historic Eagle Creek Trail, constructed in 1916, which is still considered the most popular and scenic hikes in the gorge, or fish Eagle Creek.  Eagle Creek Campground is located just south of Eagle Creek Overlook.  Located 41 miles east of Portland take exit #41 from I-84 eastbound.  Approaching from the west on I-84, there is no westbound exit.  Take the Bonneville Dam exit #40, turn left at the stop sign and then turn left onto the eastbound freeway entrance.  Take I-84 eastbound to exit #41.  The campground includes 20 sites, potable water, restrooms with flush toilets and can accommodate trailers up to 20 feet.
